The ISEpreparation123 Wikispace is where I'll share my suggestions for student meetings, pre-program preparation, homework and reflection for the family stay and for understanding culture and current issues in your destination country. This site can facilitate
- Discussion about preparation topics. You can use the news feed and the conversation bubble icon at the top of each page.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for how the activities are working and share insights and questions.
- Print activities to hand out and use easily in class or pre-program preparation meetings.
The activities, homework and reflections are in English to facilitate their use for any language and destination. Students should use the target language as much as they can and I have prompted students to do so for certain segments of some activities. Preparing for cross-cultural immersion in English when necessary may help students understand their feelings before trying out their communication skills in the target language. Challenge your students at their level. Allow for English use if it will help them to understand issues before trying to figure out how to communicate them in the target language.
